SUSTech Environmental Science Zeng Team Reveals Intensifying Extreme Winds Challenge Offshore Wind Power Resilience
The study finds that extreme wind speeds affecting turbine structural safety are rising significantly across more than 60% of global coastal regions. More than half of existing and planned offshore wind farms in Asia and Europe face increasingly severe extreme wind conditions, highlighting the urgency of strengthening offshore wind infrastructure adaptation under climate change.
